Jungle War Game
We've published this African jungle war game as a reminder of the the jungle warfare operations that took place in various countries in Africa after the second world war as those
African countries sought independence from the European colonial rulers. The main jungle war
adversaries were Portugal and the nationalist movements in Angola, Mozambique, and Portuguese Guinea. This jungle warfare continued
from 1961 to 1974 when the Portuguese regime itself was overthrown in a military coup on 25th April 1974. The jungle war did not end however with ongoing conflict in the newly independent nations leaving the Human Development Index of Angola, Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau amongst the lowest in the world at the turn of the 21st
Century.
