This jungle arcade game is an enjoyable romp through the African
jungle in which you have to guide the young jungle boy home whilst
avoiding perils on your way. In 1974 there were reports of an eight year
old boy found by soldiers in Burundi who had apparently been
raised by grey monkeys in the jungle. Named "John" the boy was
taken to a Burundi orphanage where he was observed to behave like
a monkey, jumping up and down when excited and making monkey
cries. Well, so the story goes. In reality "John" was a local boy
called Balthazar who was autistic and had never lived in the wild,
just his behaviour was somewhat wild! There have been, however,
over the years a number of stories of children being brought up in
the jungle by wild animals, the most notable probably being that of William Mildin who was shipwrecked off the African coast in 1868 and then looked after by apes until 1883 when he was found and returned to England to assume his title of the Earl of Streatham. It is believed his story was the inspiration for the Tarzan stories by the author of Edgar Rice Burroughs.
